1 Kings 18:24
24And you call upon the name of your god, and I will call upon the name of the Lord, and the God who aanswers by fire, he is God.” And all the people answered, “It is well spoken.”1 Kings 18:26
26And they took the bull that was given them, and they prepared it and called upon the name of Baal from morning until noon, saying, “O Baal, answer us!” But there was no voice, and no one answered. And they limped around the altar that they had made.1 Kings 18:29
29And as midday passed, they raved on until the time of bthe offering of the oblation, but there was no voice. No one answered; no one paid attention.1 Kings 18:36-37
36And at the time of cthe offering of the oblation, Elijah the prophet came near and said, “O Lord, dGod of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that eyou are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that fI have done all these things at your word. 37Answer me, O Lord, answer me, that this people may know that you, O Lord, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back.”2 Chronicles 32:20-22
The Lord Delivers Jerusalem
20Then Hezekiah the king and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, prayed because of this and cried to heaven. 21And the Lord sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty warriors and commanders and officers in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with gshame of face to his own land. And when he came into the house of his god, some of his own sons struck him down there with the sword. 22So the Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib king of Assyria and from the hand of all his enemies, and he provided for them on every side.Isaiah 65:24
