26And they took the bull that was given them, and they prepared it and called upon the name of Baal from morning until noon, saying, “O Baal, answer us!” But there was no voice, and no one answered. And they limped around the altar that they had made.

Isaiah 44:17-20

17And the rest of it he makes into a god, his idol, and falls down to it and worships it. aHe prays to it and says, “Deliver me, for you are my god!”

18They know not, nor do they discern, for he has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, and their hearts, so that they cannot understand. 19No one considers, nor is there knowledge or discernment to say, “Half of it I burned in the fire; I also baked bread on its coals; I roasted meat and have eaten. And shall I make the rest of it an babomination? Shall I fall down before a block of wood?” 20 cHe feeds on dashes; a deluded heart has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, “Is there not ea lie in my right hand?”

Isaiah 45:20

20 f“Assemble yourselves and come;
draw near together,
you survivors of the nations!
gThey have no knowledge
who hcarry about their wooden idols,
iand keep on praying to a god
that cannot save.

Jeremiah 2:28

28But jwhere are your gods
that you made for yourself?
Let them arise, kif they can save you,
in your time of trouble;
for las many as your cities
are your gods, O Judah.

Hosea 7:14

14 mThey do not cry to me from the heart,
but nthey wail upon their beds;
for grain and wine they gash themselves;
they rebel against me.

Jonah 1:6

6So the captain came and said to him, “What do you mean, you sleeper? Arise, ocall out to your god! pPerhaps the god will give a thought to us, that we may not perish.”

Jonah 1:14

14Therefore they called out to the Lord, “O Lord, let us not perish for this man’s life, and qlay not on us innocent blood, rfor you, O Lord, have done as it pleased you.”
