And they were sitting at the threshing floor ^bat the entrance of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets were prophesying before them. 10 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made for himself horns of iron and said, “Thus says the Lord, ‘With these you shall push the Syrians until they are destroyed.’” 11 And all the prophets prophesied so and said, “Go up to Ramoth-gilead and triumph. The Lord will give it into the hand of the king.”

Jeremiah 27:14-16

14 ^cDo not listen to the words of the prophets who are saying to you, ‘You shall not serve the king of Babylon,’ ^dfor it is a lie that they are prophesying to you. 15 I have not sent them, declares the Lord, but ^ethey are prophesying falsely in my name, with the result that I will drive you out and you will perish, you and the prophets who are prophesying to you.”

False Prophets Condemned

1 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 ⁱ“Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel, who are prophesying, and say to those ^jwho prophesy from their own hearts: ‘Hear the word of the Lord!’ 3 Thus says the Lord God, Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! 4 Your prophets have been like jackals among ruins, O Israel. 5 ^kYou have not gone up into the breaches, or built up a wall for the house of Israel, that it might stand in battle in the day of the Lord. 6 ^lThey have seen false visions and lying divinations. They say, ‘Declares the Lord,’ ^mwhen the Lord has not sent them, and yet they expect him to fulfill their word. 7 Have you not seen a false vision and uttered a lying divination, ⁿwhenever you have said, ‘Declares the Lord,’ although I have not spoken?”

8 Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Because you have uttered falsehood and seen lying visions, therefore behold, ^oI am against you, declares the Lord God. 9 My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who give lying divinations. They shall not be in the council of my people, ^pnor be enrolled in the register of the house of Israel, ^qnor shall they enter the land of Israel. ^rAnd you shall know that I am the Lord God.
