Jeremiah 15:15-21

15 jO Lord, you know;
kremember me and visit me,
l, mand take vengeance for me on my persecutors.
In your forbearance take me not away;
nknow that ofor your sake I bear reproach.
16Your words were found, pand I ate them,
and qyour words became to me a joy
and the delight of my heart,
rfor I am called by your name,
O Lord, God of hosts.
17 sI did not sit in the company of revelers,
nor did I rejoice;
tI sat alone, because your hand was upon me,
for you had filled me with indignation.
18Why is my pain unceasing,
umy wound incurable,
refusing to be healed?
Will you be to me vlike a deceitful brook,
like waters that fail?
19 Therefore thus says the Lord:
w“If you return, I will restore you,
and you shall xstand before me.
If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless,
you shall be as my mouth.
They shall turn to you,
but you shall not turn to them.
20 yAnd I will make you to this people
a fortified wall of bronze;
they will fight against you,
zbut they shall not prevail over you,
aafor I am with you
to save you and deliver you,

declares the Lord.
21 abI will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked,
and redeem you from the grasp of acthe ruthless.”

20And he said, ae“The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though they were going to inquire somewhat more closely about him. 21But do not be persuaded by them, for more than forty of their men are lying in ambush for him, who afhave bound themselves by an oath neither to eat nor drink till they have killed him. And now they are ready, waiting for your consent.” 22So the tribune dismissed the young man, charging him, “Tell no one that you have informed me of these things.”

Paul Sent to Felix the Governor

23Then he called two of the centurions and said, “Get ready two hundred soldiers, with seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen to go as far as Caesarea at the third hour of the night.
That is, 9 p.m.
24Also provide mounts for Paul to ride and bring him safely to ahFelix aithe governor.” 25And he wrote a letter to this effect:

26Claudius Lysias, to ajhis Excellency the governor Felix, akgreetings. 27 alThis man was seized by the Jews and amwas about to be killed by them anwhen I came upon them with the soldiers and rescued him, aohaving learned that he was a Roman citizen. 28And apdesiring to know the charge for which they were accusing him, I brought him down to their council. 29I found that he was being accused aqabout questions of their law, but archarged with nothing deserving death or imprisonment. 30 asAnd when it was disclosed to me atthat there would be a plot against the man, I sent him to you at once, auordering his accusers also to state before you what they have against him.”

31So the soldiers, according to their instructions, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris. 32And on the next day they returned to avthe barracks, letting the horsemen go on with him. 33When they had come to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they presented Paul also before him. 34On reading the letter, he asked what awprovince he was from. And when he learned axthat he was from Cilicia, 35he said, “I will give you a hearing aywhen your accusers arrive.” And he commanded him to be guarded in Herod’s azpraetorium.
