Ahab Defeats Ben-hadad

13 And behold, a prophet came near to Ahab king of Israel and said, “Thus says the Lord, Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, ^aI will give it into your hand this day, ^band you shall know that I am the Lord.”

1 Kings 20:28

28 And a ^cman of God came near and said to the king of Israel, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Because the Syrians have said, ^d“The Lord is a god of the hills but he is not a god of the valleys,” therefore ^eI will give all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am the Lord.’”

Isaiah 7:1-9

Isaiah Sent to King Ahaz

1 In the days of ^fAhaz the son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, ^gRezin the king of Syria and ^hPekah the son of Remaliah the king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but could not yet mount an attack against it. 2 When the house of David was told, ⁱ“Syria is in league with ^{▼▼Hebrew Syria has rested upon} ^kEphraim,” the heart of Ahaz ^{▼▼Hebrew his heart} and the heart of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake before the wind.

3 And the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out to meet Ahaz, you and ^mShear-jashub ^{▼▼ Shear-jashub means A remnant shall return} your son, at the end of ^othe conduit of the upper pool on the highway to the Washer’s Field. 4 And say to him, ^p‘Be careful, ^qbe quiet, do not fear, and do not let your heart be faint because of these two ^rsmoldering stumps of firebrands, at the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria and ^sthe son of Remaliah. 5 Because Syria, with Ephraim and ^tthe son of Remaliah, has devised evil against you, saying, 6 “Let us go up against Judah and terrify it, and let us conquer it ^{▼▼Hebrew let us split it open} for ourselves, and set up the son of Tabeel as king in the midst of it,” 7 thus says the Lord God:

^v“‘It shall not stand,
and it shall not come to pass.
8 For the head of Syria is ^wDamascus,
and the head of Damascus is Rezin.
And within sixty-five years
Ephraim will be shattered from being a people.
9 And the head of Ephraim is Samaria,
and the head of Samaria is ^xthe son of Remaliah.
^yIf you ^{▼▼The Hebrew for you is plural in verses 9, 13, 14} are not firm in faith,
you will not be firm at all.’”
