1 Kings 3:11-13

11And God said to him, “Because you have asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches or the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern what is right, 12behold, aI now do according to your word. Behold, bI give you a wise and discerning mind, so that none like you has been before you and none like you shall arise after you. 13 cI give you also what you have not asked, dboth riches and honor, so that no other king shall compare with you, all your days.

Solomon Prays for Wisdom

7 eIn that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask what I shall give you.” 8And Solomon said to God, “You have shown great and steadfast love to David my father, fand have made me king in his place. 9O Lord God, glet your word to David my father be now fulfilled, for you have made me king over a people as numerous has the dust of the earth. 10Give me now wisdom and knowledge to igo out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great?” 11God answered Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked for jpossessions, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked for long life, but have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12wisdom and knowledge are granted to you. I will also give you kriches, possessions, and honor, lsuch as none of the kings had who were before you, and none after you shall have the like.”

2 Chronicles 31:20-21

20Thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah, mand he did what was good and right and faithful before the Lord his God. 21And every work that he undertook in the service of the house of God and in accordance with the law and the commandments, seeking his God, he did with all his heart, and prospered.

The Value of Wisdom

1 nMy son, oif you receive my words
and treasure up my commandments with you,
2making your ear attentive to wisdom
and inclining your heart to understanding;
3yes, if you call out for insight
and raise your voice pfor understanding,
4if you seek it like qsilver
and search for it as for rhidden treasures,
5then syou will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
6For tthe Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
7he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
he is ua shield to those who vwalk in integrity,
8guarding the paths of justice
and wwatching over the way of his xsaints.
9 yThen you will understand zrighteousness and justice
and equity, every good path;

Proverbs 3:9-10

9 Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with aathe firstfruits of all your produce;
10then your abbarns will be filled with plenty,
and your vats will be bursting with wine.
