1 Kings 9:6-9

6 aBut if you turn aside from following me, you or your children, and do not keep my commandments and my statutes that I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them, 7 bthen I will cut off Israel from the land that I have given them, cand the house that I have consecrated for my name I will cast out of my sight, dand Israel will become a proverb and a byword among all peoples. 8And this house will become a heap of ruins.
Syriac, Old Latin; Hebrew  will become high
Everyone passing by it will be astonished and will hiss, and they will say, fWhy has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’
9Then they will say, ‘Because gthey abandoned the Lord their God who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore the Lord has brought all this disaster on them.’”

Nehemiah 9:26-27

26 h“Nevertheless, they were disobedient and rebelled against you iand cast your law behind their back jand killed your prophets, who khad warned them in order to turn them back to you, land they committed great blasphemies. 27 mTherefore you gave them into the hand of their enemies, who made them suffer. nAnd in the time of their suffering they cried out to you and you heard them from heaven, and according to your great mercies you gave them osaviors who saved them from the hand of their enemies.

Psalms 106:35-42

35but they pmixed with the nations
and learned to do as they did.
36They served their idols,
which became qa snare to them.
37They rsacrificed their sons
and their daughters to sthe demons;
38they poured out innocent blood,
the blood of their sons and daughters,
whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,
and the land was tpolluted with blood.
39Thus they ubecame unclean by their acts,
and vplayed the whore in their deeds.
40 Then wthe anger of the Lord was kindled against xhis people,
and he abhorred his yheritage;
41he zgave them into the hand of the nations,
so that those who hated them ruled over them.
42Their enemies aaoppressed them,
and they were brought into subjection under their power.

Jeremiah 2:11-13

11 abHas a nation changed its gods,
aceven though they are no gods?
But my people adhave changed their glory
for aethat which does not profit.
12Be appalled, afO heavens, at this;
be shocked, be utterly desolate,

declares the Lord,
13for my people have committed two evils:
agthey have forsaken ahme,
the fountain of ailiving waters,
and hewed out cisterns for themselves,
broken cisterns that can hold no water.

Jeremiah 2:27-28

27who say to a tree, ‘You are my father,’
and to a stone, ‘You gave me birth.’
For they have turned their back to me,
and not their face.
But ajin the time of their trouble they say,
Arise and save us!’
28But akwhere are your gods
that you made for yourself?
Let them arise, alif they can save you,
in your time of trouble;
for amas many as your cities
are your gods, O Judah.
