1 Kings 9:7-9

7 athen I will cut off Israel from the land that I have given them, band the house that I have consecrated for my name I will cast out of my sight, cand Israel will become a proverb and a byword among all peoples. 8And this house will become a heap of ruins.
Syriac, Old Latin; Hebrew  will become high
Everyone passing by it will be astonished and will hiss, and they will say, eWhy has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’
9Then they will say, ‘Because fthey abandoned the Lord their God who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore the Lord has brought all this disaster on them.’”

2 Chronicles 7:20-22

20 gthen I will pluck you
Hebrew them; twice in this verse
up from my land that I have given you, and this house that I have consecrated for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and I will make it ia proverb and a byword among all peoples.
21And at this house, which was exalted, everyone passing by will be astonished and say, jWhy has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’ 22Then they will say, ‘Because they abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore he has brought all this disaster on them.’”

Isaiah 64:10-11

10 kYour holy cities have become a wilderness;
Zion has become a wilderness,
Jerusalem a desolation.
11 lOur holy and beautiful
Or  holy and glorious
house,
where our fathers praised you,
has been burned by fire,
and all our pleasant places have become ruins.

Jeremiah 7:11-14

11 nHas this house, owhich is called by my name, pbecome a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I myself have seen it, declares the Lord. 12Go now to qmy place that was in Shiloh, rwhere I made my name dwell at first, and ssee what I did to it because of the evil of my people Israel. 13And now, because you have done all these things, declares the Lord, and twhen I spoke to you persistently you did not listen, and uwhen I called you, you did not answer, 14therefore I will do to vthe house wthat is called by my name, and in which you trust, and to the place that I gave to you and to your fathers, xas I did to Shiloh.

Luke 19:44-48

44 yand tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And zthey will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know aathe time of your abvisitation.”

Jesus Cleanses the Temple

45 acAnd he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold, 46saying to them, “It is written, adMy house shall be a house of prayer,’ but aeyou have made it a den of robbers.”

47 afAnd he was teaching daily in the temple. agThe chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people were seeking to destroy him, 48but they did not find anything they could do, for all the people were hanging on his words.
