1 Kings 9:8-9
8And this house will become a heap of ruins. ▼▼Syriac, Old Latin; Hebrew will become high
Everyone passing by it will be astonished and will hiss, and they will say, b‘Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’ 9Then they will say, ‘Because cthey abandoned the Lord their God who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. Therefore the Lord has brought all this disaster on them.’” 2 Chronicles 7:21-22
21And at this house, which was exalted, everyone passing by will be astonished and say, d‘Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’ 22Then they will say, ‘Because they abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them. 15 All who pass along the wayclap their hands at you;

at the daughter of Jerusalem:
“Is this the city that was called
hthe perfection of beauty,
ithe joy of all the earth?”
16 jAll your enemies
rail against you;
they hiss, they gnash their teeth,
they cry: “We khave swallowed her!
Ah, this is the day we longed for;
now we have it; lwe see it!”
17 The Lord has done what he purposed;
he has carried out mhis word,
which he commanded nlong ago;
ohe has thrown down pwithout pity;
qhe has made the enemy rejoice over you
and exalted the rmight of your foes.
Lamentations 4:12
