1 John 3:14-19

14 We know that ^cwe have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. 15 ^dEveryone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that ^eno murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

16 By this we know love, that ^fhe laid down his life for us, and ^gwe ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. 17 But ^hif anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet ⁱcloses his heart against him, ^jhow does God’s love abide in him? 18 Little children, let us not ^klove in word or talk but in deed and ^lin truth.

God Is Love

7 Beloved, ^mlet us love one another, for love is from God, and ⁿwhoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 ^oAnyone who does not love does not know God, because ^pGod is love. 9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that ^qGod sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, ^rnot that we have loved God ^sbut that he loved us and sent his Son to be ^tthe propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 ^uNo one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and ^vhis love is perfected in us.
