1 Samuel 13:12-13

12I said, ‘Now the Philistines will come down against me at Gilgal, and I have not sought the favor of the Lord.’ So I forced myself, and offered the burnt offering.” 13And Samuel said to Saul, a“You have done foolishly. bYou have not kept the command of the Lord your God, with which he commanded you. For then the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever.

1 Samuel 15:21-23

21 cBut the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the best of the things devoted to destruction, to sacrifice to the Lord your God in Gilgal.” 22And Samuel said,

d“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
as in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, eto obey is better than sacrifice,
and to listen than the fat of rams.
23For rebellion is as the sin of divination,
and presumption is as iniquity and fidolatry.
Because gyou have rejected the word of the Lord,
hhe has also rejected you from being king.”

Psalms 50:8-13

8Not for your sacrifices ido I rebuke you;
your burnt offerings are continually before me.
9I will not accept a bull from your house
or goats from your folds.
10For every beast of the forest is mine,
the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 jI know all the birds of the hills,
and all that moves in the field is mine.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
kfor the world and its fullness are mine.
13Do I eat the flesh of bulls
or drink the blood of goats?

Proverbs 15:8

8 lThe sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord,
but mthe prayer of the upright is acceptable to him.

Proverbs 28:9

9If one turns away his ear from hearing the law,
even his nprayer is an abomination.

Isaiah 1:11-16

11 oWhat to me is the multitude of your sacrifices?
says the Lord;
I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams
and the fat of well-fed beasts;
I do not delight in the blood of bulls,
or of lambs, or of goats.
12 “When you come to pappear before me,
who has required of you
this trampling of my courts?
13Bring no more vain offerings;
incense is an abomination to me.
qNew moon and Sabbath and the rcalling of convocations
I cannot endure siniquity and tsolemn assembly.
14Your unew moons and your appointed feasts
my soul hates;
they have become a burden to me;
I am weary of bearing them.
15When you vspread out your hands,
I will hide my eyes from you;
weven though you make many prayers,
I will not listen;
xyour hands are full of blood.
16 yWash yourselves; make yourselves clean;
remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes;
zcease to do evil,

Isaiah 66:3

3 aa“He who slaughters an ox is like one who kills a man;
he who sacrifices a lamb, like one who breaks a dog’s neck;
he who presents a grain offering, like one who offers abpig’s blood;
he who makes a memorial offering of frankincense, like one who blesses an idol.
acThese have chosen their own ways,
and their soul delights in their abominations;
