David Anointed King

1The Lord said to Samuel, eHow long will you grieve over Saul, since fI have rejected him from being king over Israel? gFill your horn with oil, and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, hfor I have provided for myself a king among his sons.”

1 Samuel 16:11-13

11Then Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all your sons here?” And he said, i“There remains yet the youngest,
Or smallest
but behold, he is keeping the sheep.” And Samuel said to Jesse, kSend and get him, for we will not sit down till he comes here.”
12And he sent and brought him in. Now he was lruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the Lord said, mArise, anoint him, for this is he.” 13Then Samuel took nthe horn of oil oand anointed him in the midst of his brothers. pAnd the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

1 Samuel 28:17

17The Lord has done to you as he spoke by me, for qthe Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, David.

2 Samuel 3:9-10

9 rGod do so to Abner and more also, if I do not accomplish for David swhat the Lord has sworn to him, 10to transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul and set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, tfrom Dan to Beersheba.”

2 Samuel 5:3

3So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, uand King David made a covenant with them at Hebron vbefore the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.
