1 Samuel 15:20-21

20 And Saul said to Samuel, ^a“I have obeyed the voice of the Lord. I have gone on the mission on which the Lord sent me. I have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and I have devoted the Amalekites to destruction. 21 ^bBut the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the best of the things devoted to destruction, to sacrifice to the Lord your God in Gilgal.”

Psalms 78:34-37

34 When he killed them, they ^csought him;
they repented and sought God earnestly.
35 They remembered that God was their ^drock,
the Most High God their ^eredeemer.
36 But they ^fflattered him with their mouths;
they ^glied to him with their tongues.
37 Their ^hheart was not ⁱsteadfast toward him;
they were not faithful to his covenant.

Psalms 78:41

41 They ^jtested God again and again
and provoked ^kthe Holy One of Israel.

Psalms 78:56-57

56 Yet they ^ltested and ^mrebelled against the Most High God
and did not keep his testimonies,
57 but turned away and acted treacherously like their fathers;
they twisted like ⁿa deceitful bow.
