David Anointed King

1The Lord said to Samuel, bHow long will you grieve over Saul, since cI have rejected him from being king over Israel? dFill your horn with oil, and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, efor I have provided for myself a king among his sons.”

1 Samuel 16:11-13

11Then Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all your sons here?” And he said, f“There remains yet the youngest,
Or smallest
but behold, he is keeping the sheep.” And Samuel said to Jesse, hSend and get him, for we will not sit down till he comes here.”
12And he sent and brought him in. Now he was iruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the Lord said, jArise, anoint him, for this is he.” 13Then Samuel took kthe horn of oil land anointed him in the midst of his brothers. mAnd the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

21And David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, nwho chose me above your father and above all his house, to appoint me as prince

1 Chronicles 28:4-5

4Yet the Lord God of Israel vchose me from all my father’s house to be king over Israel wforever. xFor he chose Judah as leader, and in the house of Judah my father’s yhouse, and among my father’s sons he took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel. 5And of zall my sons (for the Lord has given me many sons) he aahas chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.

Acts 13:22
