1 Samuel 16:1

David Anointed King

1The Lord said to Samuel, aHow long will you grieve over Saul, since bI have rejected him from being king over Israel? cFill your horn with oil, and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, dfor I have provided for myself a king among his sons.”

1 Samuel 16:12-13

12And he sent and brought him in. Now he was eruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the Lord said, fArise, anoint him, for this is he.” 13Then Samuel took gthe horn of oil hand anointed him in the midst of his brothers. iAnd the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

2 Samuel 2:4

4And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David jking over the house of Judah.

When they told David, k“It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul,”

2 Kings 23:30

30 lAnd his servants carried him dead in a chariot from mMegiddo and brought him to Jerusalem and buried him in his own tomb. nAnd the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father’s place.
