David Anointed King

1The Lord said to Samuel, aHow long will you grieve over Saul, since bI have rejected him from being king over Israel? cFill your horn with oil, and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, dfor I have provided for myself a king among his sons.”

1 Samuel 16:13

13Then Samuel took ethe horn of oil fand anointed him in the midst of his brothers. gAnd the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

2 Samuel 2:4

4And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David hking over the house of Judah.

When they told David, i“It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul,”

2 Samuel 5:3-5

3So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, jand King David made a covenant with them at Hebron kbefore the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel. 4David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and lhe reigned forty years. 5 mAt Hebron he reigned over Judah nseven years and six months, and at Jerusalem he reigned over all Israel and Judah thirty-three years.
