1 Samuel 16:12-13

12And he sent and brought him in. Now he was aruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the Lord said, bArise, anoint him, for this is he.” 13Then Samuel took cthe horn of oil dand anointed him in the midst of his brothers. eAnd the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

1 Samuel 24:4-7

4And the men of David said to him, f“Here is the day of which the Lord said to you, ‘Behold, I will give your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you.’” Then David arose and stealthily cut off a corner of Saul’s robe. 5And afterward gDavid’s heart struck him, because he had cut off a corner of Saul’s robe. 6He said to his men, h“The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord’s anointed, to put out my hand against him, seeing he is ithe Lord’s anointed.” 7So David persuaded his men with these words jand did not permit them to attack Saul. And Saul rose up and left the cave and went on his way.

1 Samuel 24:13

13As the proverb of the ancients says, ‘Out of the wicked comes wickedness.’ But my hand shall not be against you.

1 Samuel 26:9-11

9But David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him, for who can put out his hand kagainst the Lord’s anointed and be guiltless?” 10And David said, l“As the Lord lives, mthe Lord will strike him, or nhis day will come to die, oor he will go down into battle and perish. 11 pThe Lord forbid that I should put out my hand against the Lord’s anointed. But take now the spear that is qat his head and the jar of water, and let us go.”

1 Kings 11:26-37

26 rJeroboam the son of Nebat, san Ephraimite of Zeredah, a servant of Solomon, whose mother’s name was Zeruah, a widow, also tlifted up his hand against the king. 27And this was the reason why he lifted up his hand against the king. uSolomon built the Millo, and closed up the breach of the city of David his father. 28The man Jeroboam was very able, and when Solomon saw that the young man was industrious he gave him charge over all the forced labor of the house of Joseph. 29And at that time, when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, the prophet vAhijah the Shilonite found him on the road. Now Ahijah had dressed himself in a new garment, and the two of them were alone in the open country. 30Then Ahijah laid hold of the new garment that was on him, wand tore it into twelve pieces. 31And he said to Jeroboam, “Take for yourself ten pieces, for thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Behold, xI am about to tear the kingdom from the hand of Solomon and will give you ten tribes 32(but yhe shall have one tribe, for the sake of my servant David and for the sake of Jerusalem, zthe city that I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel), 33because they have

34Nevertheless, I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand, but I will make him ruler all the days of his life, for the sake of David my servant whom I chose, who kept my commandments and my statutes. 35 acBut I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand and will give it to you, ten tribes. 36Yet to his son adI will give one tribe, that David my servant may always have aea lamp before me in Jerusalem, afthe city where I have chosen to put my name. 37And I will take you, and you shall reign over all that your soul desires, and you shall be king over Israel.

2 Kings 8:13

13And Hazael said, “What is your servant, agwho is but a dog, that he should do this great thing?” Elisha answered, ah“The Lord has shown me that you are to be king over Syria.”
