David in Saul’s Service

14 aNow the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, band a harmful spirit from the Lord tormented him.

Psalms 60:3

3 cYou have made your people see hard things;
dyou have given us ewine to drink that made us stagger.

Isaiah 6:9-10

9And he said, “Go, and say to this people:

f“‘Keep on hearing,
Or Hear indeed
but do not understand;
keep on seeing,
Or see indeed
but do not perceive.’
10 iMake the heart of this people jdull,
Hebrew fat

and their ears heavy,
and blind their eyes;
llest they see with their eyes,
and hear with their ears,
and understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.”

Isaiah 19:11-17

11 The princes of mZoan are utterly foolish;
the wisest counselors of Pharaoh give stupid counsel.
How can you say to Pharaoh,
“I am a son of the wise,
a son of ancient kings”?
12Where then are your nwise men?
Let them tell you
that they might know what the Lord of hosts has purposed against Egypt.
13The princes of oZoan have become fools,
and the princes of pMemphis are deluded;
those who are the qcornerstones of her tribes
have made Egypt stagger.
14The Lord has mingled within her ra spirit of confusion,
and they will make Egypt stagger in all its deeds,
sas a drunken man staggers in his vomit.
15And there will be nothing for Egypt
that thead or tail, palm branch or reed, may do.

16In that day the Egyptians will be ulike women, and vtremble with fear before the hand that the Lord of hosts shakes over them. 17And the land of Judah will become a terror to the Egyptians. Everyone to whom it is mentioned will fear because of the purpose that the Lord of hosts has purposed against them.

19 wBehold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
xI will make a way in the wilderness
yand rivers in the desert.

17I will do this that they may lack bread and water, and aalook at one another in dismay, and abrot away because of their punishment.
