1 Samuel 17:36-37

36Your servant has struck down both lions and bears, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, afor he has defied the armies of the living God.” 37And David said, b“The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, cand the Lord be with you!”

2 Samuel 4:9

9But David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, d“As the Lord lives, ewho has redeemed my life out of every adversity,

2 Samuel 22

David’s Song of Deliverance

1And David spoke fto the Lord the words of this song on the day when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. 2 gHe said,

h“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
3 imy
Septuagint (compare Psalm 18:2); Hebrew lacks  my
God, my rock, kin whom I take refuge,
lmy shield, and mthe horn of my salvation,
nmy stronghold and omy refuge,
my savior; you save me from violence.
4I call upon the Lord, who is pworthy to be praised,
and I am saved from my enemies.
5 q“For the waves of death encompassed me,
the torrents of destruction assailed me;
Or terrified me

6 sthe cords of Sheol entangled me;
the snares of death confronted me.
7 t“In my distress I called upon the Lord;
to my God I called.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry ucame to his ears.
8 “Then vthe earth reeled and rocked;
wthe foundations of the heavens trembled
and quaked, because he was angry.
9Smoke went up from his nostrils,
Or in his wrath

and devouring fire from his mouth;
yglowing coals flamed forth from him.
10 zHe bowed the heavens and aacame down;
abthick darkness was under his feet.
11He rode on a cherub and flew;
he was seen on acthe wings of the wind.
12He made addarkness around him aehis canopy,
thick clouds, a gathering of water.
13Out of the brightness before him
afcoals of fire flamed forth.
14 agThe Lord thundered from heaven,
and the Most High uttered his voice.
15And he sent out aharrows and scattered them;
lightning, and routed them.
16Then the channels of the sea were seen;
the foundations of the world were laid bare,
at the rebuke of the Lord,
at the aiblast of the breath of his nostrils.
17 aj“He sent from on high, he took me;
he drew me out of many waters.
18He rescued me from my strong enemy,
from those who hated me,
for they were too mighty for me.
19They confronted me in the day of my calamity,
but the Lord was my support.
20 akHe brought me out into a broad place;
he rescued me, because alhe delighted in me.
21 “The Lord amdealt with me according to my righteousness;
according to the ancleanness of my hands he rewarded me.
22 aoFor I have kept the ways of the Lord
and have not wickedly departed from my God.
23 apFor all his rules were before me,
and from his statutes I did not turn aside.
24I was aqblameless before him,
and I kept myself from guilt.
25 arAnd the Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness,
according to my cleanness in his sight.
26 asWith the merciful you show yourself merciful;
with the atblameless man you show yourself blameless;
27with the purified you deal purely,
and with the crooked you make yourself seem tortuous.
28 auYou save a humble people,
avbut your eyes are on the haughty to bring them down.
29 awFor you are my lamp, O Lord,
and my God lightens my darkness.
30For by you I can run against a troop,
and by my God I can leap over a wall.
31This Godaxhis way is perfect;
the ayword of the Lord proves true;
he is aza shield for all those who take refuge in him.
32 For who is God, but the Lord?
baAnd who is a rock, except our God?
33This God is my bbstrong refuge
and has made my
Or his; also verse 34
way blameless.
Compare Psalm 18:32; Hebrew he has blamelessly set my way free, or he has made my way spring up blamelessly

34 beHe made my feet like the feet of a deer
and set me secure bfon the heights.
35 bgHe trains my hands for war,
so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
36You have given me the shield of your salvation,
and your gentleness made me great.
37 bhYou gave a wide place for my steps under me,
and my feet
Hebrew ankles
did not slip;
38I pursued my enemies and destroyed them,
and did not turn back until they were consumed.
39I consumed them; I thrust them through, so that they did not rise;
they fell bjunder my feet.
40For you equipped me with strength for the battle;
you made bkthose who rise against me sink under me.
41You blmade my enemies turn their backs to me,
Or  You gave me my enemies’ necks

those who hated me, and I destroyed them.
42They looked, but there was none to save;
they cried to the Lord, but bnhe did not answer them.
43I beat them fine boas the dust of the earth;
I crushed them and stamped them down bplike the mire of the streets.
44 “You delivered me from strife with my people;
Septuagint  with the peoples

you kept me as the head of brthe nations;
bspeople whom I had not known served me.
45Foreigners came cringing to me;
as soon as they heard of me, they obeyed me.
46Foreigners lost heart
and came trembling
Compare Psalm 18:45; Hebrew equipped themselves
buout of their fortresses.
47 “The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock,
and exalted be bvmy God, bwthe rock of my salvation,
48the God who gave me vengeance
and bxbrought down peoples under me,
49who brought me out from my enemies;
you exalted me above bythose who rose against me;
you delivered me from bzmen of violence.
50 caFor this I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations,
and sing praises to your name.
51 cbGreat salvation he brings
Or He is a tower of salvation
to his king,
and shows steadfast love to cdhis anointed,
to David and his offspring ceforever.”

1 Chronicles 16:4-36

4Then he appointed some of the Levites as ministers before the ark of the Lord, to invoke, to thank, and to praise the Lord, the God of Israel. 5 cfAsaph was the chief, and second to him were Zechariah, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel, who were to play harps and lyres; Asaph was to sound the cymbals, 6and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God. 7Then on that day cgDavid first appointed that thanksgiving be sung to the Lord by Asaph and his brothers.

David’s Song of Thanks

8 chOh give thanks to the Lord; cicall upon his name;
cjmake known his deeds among the peoples!
9Sing to him, sing praises to him;
tell of all his wondrous works!
10Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
11 ckSeek the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence continually!
12 clRemember the wondrous works that he has done,
cmhis miracles and the judgments he uttered,
13O offspring of Israel his servant,
children of Jacob, his chosen ones!
14 He is the Lord our God;
cnhis judgments are in all the earth.
15Remember his covenant forever,
the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations,
16the covenant cothat he made with Abraham,
his sworn promise to Isaac,
17which cphe confirmed to Jacob as a statute,
to Israel as an everlasting covenant,
18saying, cq“To you I will give the land of Canaan,
as your portion for an inheritance.”
19 When you were crfew in number,
of little account, and cssojourners in it,
20wandering from nation to nation,
from one kingdom to another people,
21he allowed no one to oppress them;
he ctrebuked kings on their account,
22saying, “Touch not my anointed ones,
do my cuprophets no harm!”
23 cvSing to the Lord, all the earth!
Tell of his salvation from day to day.
24Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!
25For cwgreat is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
and he is to be feared cxabove all gods.
26For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
cybut the Lord made the heavens.
27Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and joy are in his place.
28 Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
czascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
29Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering and come before him!
daWorship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;
Or  in holy attire

30tremble before him, all the earth;
yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.
31 dcLet the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice,
and let them say among the nations, dd“The Lord reigns!”
32 deLet the sea roar, and all that fills it;
let the field exult, and everything in it!
33Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy
before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth.
34Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!
35 dfSay also:

Save us, O God of our salvation,
and gather and deliver us from among the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name
and glory in your praise.
36 dgBlessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting!”
dhThen all the people said, “Amen!” and praised the Lord.

Psalms 66:16

16 diCome and hear, all you who fear God,
and I will tell what he has done for my soul.
