17Then Saul said to David, “Here is amy elder daughter Merab. bI will give her to you for a wife. Only be valiant for me cand fight the Lord’s battles.” For Saul thought, “Let not my hand be against him, dbut let the hand of the Philistines be against him.”

2 Samuel 11:14-17

14In the morning David ewrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah. 15In the letter he wrote, “Set Uriah in the forefront of the hardest fighting, and then draw back from him, fthat he may be struck down, and die.” 16And as Joab was besieging the city, he assigned Uriah to the place where he knew there were valiant men. 17And the men of the city came out and fought with Joab, and some of the servants of David among the people fell. Uriah the Hittite also died.

2 Samuel 12:9

9 gWhy have you despised the word of the Lord, hto do what is evil in his sight? iYou have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and jhave taken his wife to be your wife and have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.
