1 Samuel 19:4-5

4 And Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father and said to him, “Let not the king ^asin against his servant David, because he has not sinned against you, and because his deeds have brought good to you. 5 For ^bhe took his life in his hand ^cand he struck down the Philistine, ^dand the Lord worked a great salvation for all Israel. You saw it, and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against ^einnocent blood by killing David without cause?”

17 He said to David, “You are more righteous than I, ^ofor you have repaid me good, whereas I have repaid you evil. 18 And you have declared this day how you have dealt well with me, in that you did not kill me when the Lord put me into your hands. 19 For if a man finds his enemy, will he let him go away safe? So may the Lord reward you with good for what you have done to me this day.
