1 Samuel 2:15-17

15Moreover, abefore the fat was burned, the priest’s servant would come and say to the man who was sacrificing, “Give meat for the priest to roast, for he will not accept boiled meat from you but only raw.” 16And if the man said to him, “Let them burn the fat first, and then take as much as you wish,” he would say, “No, you must give it now, and if not, I will take it by force.” 17Thus the sin of the young men was very great bin the sight of the Lord, cfor the men treated the offering of the Lord with contempt.

27 oWhoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord pin an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning qthe body and blood of the Lord. 28 rLet a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. 30That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some shave died.

31 uBut if we judged
Or discerned
ourselves truly, we would not be judged.
32But when we are judged by the Lord, wwe are disciplined
Or  when we are judged we are being disciplined by the Lord
so that we may not be ycondemned along with the world.
