1 Samuel 2:7-8

7 ^aThe Lord makes poor and makes rich;
^bhe brings low and he exalts.
8 ^cHe raises up the poor from the dust;
he lifts the needy from the ash heap
^dto make them sit with princes
and inherit a seat of honor.
^eFor the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s,
and on them he has set the world.

Psalms 72:12-14

12 For he delivers ^fthe needy when he calls,
the poor and him who has no helper.
13 He has pity on the weak and the needy,
and saves the lives of the needy.
14 From oppression and violence he redeems their life,
and ^gprecious is their blood in his sight.

Psalms 113:7

7 He ^hraises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
