1 Samuel 24:4-7

4And the men of David said to him, a“Here is the day of which the Lord said to you, ‘Behold, I will give your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you.’” Then David arose and stealthily cut off a corner of Saul’s robe. 5And afterward bDavid’s heart struck him, because he had cut off a corner of Saul’s robe. 6He said to his men, c“The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord’s anointed, to put out my hand against him, seeing he is dthe Lord’s anointed.” 7So David persuaded his men with these words eand did not permit them to attack Saul. And Saul rose up and left the cave and went on his way.

15Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke secretly to Gedaliah at Mizpah, “Please let me go and strike down Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no one will know it. Why should he take your life, so that all the Judeans who are gathered about you would be scattered, wand the remnant of Judah would perish?” 16But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said to Johanan the son of Kareah, “You shall not do this thing, for you are speaking falsely of Ishmael.”
