5 And afterward ^aDavid’s heart struck him, because he had cut off a corner of Saul’s robe. 6 He said to his men, ^b“The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord’s anointed, to put out my hand against him, seeing he is ^cthe Lord’s anointed.”

Romans 12:19-21

19 Beloved, ^dnever avenge yourselves, but leave it ^{▼▼Greek give place} to the wrath of God, for it is written, ^f“Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 To the contrary, ^g“if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
