1 Samuel 25:14-17

14But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal’s wife, “Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to greet our master, and he railed at them. 15Yet the men were very good to us, and we suffered no harm, aand we did not miss anything when we were in the fields, as long as we went with them. 16They were ba wall to us both by night and by day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep. 17Now therefore know this and consider what you should do, cfor harm is determined against our master and against all his house, and he is such da worthless man that one cannot speak to him.”

Jeremiah Rescued from the Cistern

7When kEbed-melech lthe Ethiopian, ma eunuch who was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah into the cistern—the king was sitting nin the Benjamin Gate 8 oEbed-melech went from the king’s house and said to the king, 9“My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they did to Jeremiah the prophet by casting him into the cistern, and he will die there of phunger, qfor there is no bread left in the city.” 10Then the king commanded rEbed-melech the Ethiopian, “Take thirty men with you from here, and lift Jeremiah the prophet out of the cistern before he dies.”
