David Flees to the Philistines

1Then David said in his heart, “Now I shall perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will despair of seeking me any longer within the borders of Israel, and I shall escape out of his hand.”

1 Kings 11:38

38And if you will listen to all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do what is right in my eyes by keeping my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did, aI will be with you and bwill build you a sure house, as I built for David, and I will give Israel to you.

2 Chronicles 20:20

18But if you do not surrender to hthe officials of the king of Babylon, ithen this city shall be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, jand they shall burn it with fire, and you shall not escape from their hand.” 19King Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, “I am afraid of the Judeans kwho have deserted to the Chaldeans, lest I be handed over to them and they deal cruelly with me.” 20Jeremiah said, “You shall not be given to them. Obey now the voice of the Lord in what I say to you, land it shall be well with you, and your life shall be spared. 21But if you refuse to msurrender, this is the vision which the Lord has shown to me:

John 11:47-50

47So the chief priests and the Pharisees ngathered othe council and said, pWhat are we to do? For this man performs many signs. 48If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and qthe Romans will come and take away both our rplace and our nation.” 49But one of them, sCaiaphas, twho was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all. 50Nor do you understand that uit is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.”
