The Lord Calls Samuel

1 aNow the boy Samuel was ministering to the Lord in the presence of Eli. bAnd the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no frequent vision.

1 Samuel 28:6

6And when Saul inquired of the Lord, cthe Lord did not answer him, either dby dreams, or eby Urim, or by prophets.

1 Samuel 28:15

15Then Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” Saul answered, “I am in great distress, for the Philistines are warring against me, and fGod has turned away from me and ganswers me no more, either by prophets or by dreams. Therefore I have summoned you to tell me what I shall do.”

Psalms 74:9

9 We do not see our hsigns;
ithere is no longer any prophet,
and there is none among us who knows how long.

Isaiah 5:6

6I will make it a waste;
it shall not be pruned or hoed,
and jbriers and thorns shall grow up;
kI will also command the clouds
that they rain no rain upon it.

Isaiah 30:20-21

20And though the Lord give you the lbread of adversity and the mwater of affliction, nyet your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher. 21 oAnd your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is pthe way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.
