1 Samuel 4:10-12

10So the Philistines fought, aand Israel was defeated, band they fled, every man to his home. And there was a very great slaughter, for thirty thousand foot soldiers of Israel fell. 11 cAnd the ark of God was captured, dand the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, died.

The Death of Eli

12A man of Benjamin ran from the battle line and came to Shiloh the same day, ewith his clothes torn and with dirt on his head.

1 Samuel 4:19-22

19Now his daughter-in-law, the wife of Phinehas, was pregnant, about to give birth. And when she heard the news that the ark of God was captured, and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, she bowed and gave birth, for her pains came upon her. 20And about the time of her death the women attending her said to her, f“Do not be afraid, for you have borne a son.” But she did not answer or pay attention. 21And she named the child gIchabod, saying, h“The glory has departed
Or gone into exile; also verse 22
from Israel!” because jthe ark of God had been captured and because of her father-in-law and her husband.
22And she said, “The glory has departed from Israel, kfor the ark of God has been captured.”

Psalms 78:60-64

60He lforsook his dwelling at mShiloh,
the tent where he dwelt among mankind,
61and delivered his npower to captivity,
his oglory to the hand of the foe.
62He pgave his people over to the sword
and qvented his wrath on his heritage.
63 rFire devoured their young men,
and their young women had no smarriage song.
64Their tpriests fell by the sword,
and their uwidows made no lamentation.

Jeremiah 7:12-14

12Go now to vmy place that was in Shiloh, wwhere I made my name dwell at first, and xsee what I did to it because of the evil of my people Israel. 13And now, because you have done all these things, declares the Lord, and ywhen I spoke to you persistently you did not listen, and zwhen I called you, you did not answer, 14therefore I will do to aathe house abthat is called by my name, and in which you trust, and to the place that I gave to you and to your fathers, acas I did to Shiloh.
