1 Samuel 4:2

2The Philistines drew up in line against Israel, and when the battle spread, Israel was defeated before the Philistines, who killed about four thousand men on the field of battle.

1 Samuel 4:11

11 aAnd the ark of God was captured, band the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, died.

1 Samuel 4:17-20

17He who brought the news answered and said, “Israel has fled before the Philistines, and there has also been a great defeat among the people. Your two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God has been captured.” 18As soon as he mentioned the ark of God, Eli fell over backward cfrom his seat by the side of the gate, and his neck was broken and he died, for the man was old and heavy. He had judged Israel forty years.

19Now his daughter-in-law, the wife of Phinehas, was pregnant, about to give birth. And when she heard the news that the ark of God was captured, and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, she bowed and gave birth, for her pains came upon her. 20And about the time of her death the women attending her said to her, d“Do not be afraid, for you have borne a son.” But she did not answer or pay attention.

1 Samuel 14:3

3including eAhijah the son of Ahitub, fIchabod’s brother, son of Phinehas, son of Eli, the priest of the Lord gin Shiloh, hwearing an ephod. And the people did not know that Jonathan had gone.

1 Samuel 22:17-20

17And the king said to ithe guard who stood about him, “Turn and kill the priests of the Lord, because their hand also is with David, and they knew that he fled and did not disclose it to me.” But the servants of the king would not put out their hand to strike the priests of the Lord. 18Then the king said to Doeg, “You turn and strike the priests.” And Doeg the Edomite turned and struck down the priests, jand he killed on that day eighty-five persons who wore the linen ephod. 19And Nob, the city of the priests, he put to the sword; kboth man and woman, child and infant, ox, donkey and sheep, he put to the sword.

20But one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named lAbiathar, escaped and fled after David.

1 Kings 2:26-27

26And to Abiathar the priest the king said, “Go to mAnathoth, to your estate, for you deserve death. But I will not at this time put you to death, nbecause you carried the ark of the Lord God before David my father, oand because you shared in all my father’s affliction.” 27 pSo Solomon expelled Abiathar from being priest to the Lord, thus fulfilling qthe word of the Lord that he had spoken concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

1 Kings 2:35

35 rThe king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada over the army in place of Joab, and the king put sZadok the priest tin the place of Abiathar.
