1 Samuel 4:3-6

3And when the people came to the camp, the elders of Israel said, “Why has the Lord defeated us today before the Philistines? Let us bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord here afrom Shiloh, that it
Or he
may come among us and save us from the power of our enemies.”
4So the people sent to Shiloh and brought from there the ark of the covenant of the Lord of hosts, cwho is enthroned on the cherubim. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

5As soon as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came into the camp, all Israel dgave a mighty shout, so that the earth resounded. 6And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shouting, they said, “What does this great shouting in the camp of the Hebrews mean?” And when they learned that the ark of the Lord had come to the camp,

Isaiah 48:2

2For they call themselves after the holy city,
eand stay themselves on the God of Israel;
the Lord of hosts is his name.

Jeremiah 7:4

4 fDo not trust in these deceptive words: ‘This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’

Jeremiah 7:8-12

8Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail. 9 gWill you steal, murder, commit adultery, hswear falsely, imake offerings to Baal, jand go after other gods that you have not known, 10and then come and stand before me in this house, kwhich is called by my name, and say, ‘We are delivered!’—only to go on doing all these abominations? 11 lHas this house, mwhich is called by my name, nbecome a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I myself have seen it, declares the Lord. 12Go now to omy place that was in Shiloh, pwhere I made my name dwell at first, and qsee what I did to it because of the evil of my people Israel.

Matthew 3:9

9And do not presume to say to yourselves, r‘We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from sthese stones to raise up children for Abraham.

Romans 2:17-29

17But if you call yourself a Jew and trely on the law and boast in God 18and know his will and approve what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law; 19and if you are sure that you yourself are ua guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, 20an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law vthe embodiment of wknowledge and truth 21 xyou then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? 22You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you yrob temples? 23You who zboast in the law aadishonor God by breaking the law. 24For, abas it is written, “The name of God is blasphemed acamong the Gentiles because of you.”

25For circumcision indeed is of value adif you obey the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision becomes uncircumcision. 26So, if aea man who is uncircumcised keeps afthe precepts of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded
Or counted
as circumcision?
27Then he who is physically
Or  is by nature
uncircumcised but keeps the law aiwill condemn you who have ajthe written code
Or  the letter
and circumcision but break the law.
28For alno one is a Jew amwho is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. 29But a Jew is one aninwardly, and aocircumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. apHis praise is not from man but from God.
