1 Samuel 7:8-12

8And the people of Israel said to Samuel, “Do not cease to cry out to the Lord our God for us, that he may save us from the hand of the Philistines.” 9So Samuel took a nursing lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. And aSamuel cried out to the Lord for Israel, and the Lord answered him. 10As Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to attack Israel. bBut the Lord thundered with a mighty sound that day against the Philistines and threw them into confusion, and they were defeated before Israel. 11And the men of Israel went out from Mizpah and pursued the Philistines and struck them, as far as below Beth-car.

12Then Samuel ctook a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen

and called its name Ebenezer;
 Ebenezer means stone of help
for he said, “Till now the Lord has helped us.”

1 Samuel 14:6-10

6Jonathan said to the young man who carried his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these funcircumcised. It may be that the Lord will work for us, gfor nothing can hinder the Lord from saving by many or by few.” 7And his armor-bearer said to him, “Do all that is in your heart. Do as you wish.
Septuagint  Do all that your mind inclines to
Behold, I am with you heart and soul.”
8Then Jonathan said, “Behold, we will cross over to the men, and we will show ourselves to them. 9If they say to us, ‘Wait until we come to you,’ then we will stand still in our place, and we will not go up to them. 10But if they say, ‘Come up to us,’ then we will go up, for the Lord has given them into our hand. And this shall be the sign to us.”

1 Samuel 17:47

47and that all this assembly may know that ithe Lord saves not with sword and spear. jFor the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hand.”

2 Samuel 7:10

10And I will appoint a place for my people Israel kand will plant them, so that they may dwell in their own place land be disturbed no more. mAnd violent men shall afflict them no more, as formerly,
