1 Samuel 9:15-17

15 Now the day before Saul came, ^athe Lord had ^brevealed to Samuel: 16 “Tomorrow about this time I will send to you a man from the land of Benjamin, ^cand you shall anoint him to be prince ^{▼▼Or leader} over my people Israel. He shall save my people from the hand of the Philistines. ^eFor I have seen ^{▼▼Septuagint adds the affliction of} my people, because their cry has come to me.” 17 When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord told him, ^g“Here is the man of whom I spoke to you! He it is who shall restrain my people.”

1 Samuel 10:24

24 And Samuel said to all the people, “Do you see him ^hwhom the Lord has chosen? There is none like him among all the people.” And all the people shouted, ⁱ“Long live the king!”

1 Samuel 16:12-13

12 And he sent and brought him in. Now he was ^jruddy and had beautiful eyes and was handsome. And the Lord said, ^k“Arise, anoint him, for this is he.” 13 Then Samuel took ^lthe horn of oil ^mand anointed him in the midst of his brothers. ⁿAnd the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

2 Samuel 5:2

2 In times past, when Saul was king over us, ^oit was you who led out and brought in Israel. And the Lord said to you, ^p‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince ^{▼▼Or leader} over Israel.’”

1 Chronicles 12:23

23 These are the numbers of the divisions of the armed troops ^rwho came to David in Hebron ^sto turn the kingdom of Saul over to him, ^taccording to the word of the Lord.

1 Chronicles 22:10

10 ^uHe shall build a house for my name. ^vHe shall be my son, and I will be his father, and I will establish his royal throne in Israel forever.’

1 Chronicles 28:5

5 And of ^wall my sons (for the Lord has given me many sons) he ^xhas chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.
