1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

The Coming of the Lord

13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, ^athat you may not grieve as others do ^bwho have no hope. 14 For ^csince we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him ^dthose who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you ^eby a word from the Lord, ^{▼▼Or by the word of the Lord} that ^gwe who are alive, who are left until ^hthe coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For ⁱthe Lord himself will descend ^jfrom heaven ^kwith a cry of command, with the voice of ^lan archangel, and ^mwith the sound of the trumpet of God. And ⁿthe dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be ^ocaught up together with them ^pin the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so ^qwe will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

2 Thessalonians 1:5-10

The Judgment at Christ’s Coming

5 This is ^revidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be ^sconsidered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering— 6 since indeed God considers it ^tjust ^uto repay with affliction those who afflict you, 7 and to grant ^vrelief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when ^wthe Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven ^xwith his mighty angels 8 ^yin flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those ^zwho do not know God and on those who ^aado not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will suffer the punishment of ^abeternal destruction, ^acaway from ^{▼▼Or destruction that comes from} the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, 10 ^aewhen he comes on ^afthat day ^agto be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our ^ahtestimony to you ^aiwas believed.

Hebrews 10:35-39

35 Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has ^aja great reward. 36 For ^akyou have need of endurance, so that ^alwhen you have done the will of God you may ^amreceive what is promised. 37 For,

^an“Yet a little while,
and ^aothe coming one will come and will not delay;
38 ^apbut my righteous one shall live by faith,
and if he shrinks back,
my soul has no pleasure in him.”
39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.
