Qualifications for Deacons

8 ^aDeacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, ^{▼▼Or devious in speech} ^cnot addicted to much wine, ^dnot greedy for dishonest gain. 9 They must ^ehold the mystery of the faith with ^fa clear conscience. 10 And ^glet them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. 11 ^hTheir wives likewise must ^{▼▼Or Wives, likewise, must, or Women, likewise, must} be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, ^jfaithful in all things. 12 Let deacons each be ^kthe husband of one wife, ^lmanaging their children and their own households well. 13 For ^mthose who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.
