1 Timothy 4:1-3

Some Will Depart from the Faith

1Now athe Spirit expressly says that bin later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to cdeceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2through the insincerity of dliars whose consciences are seared, 3 ewho forbid marriage and frequire abstinence from foods gthat God created hto be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

2 Timothy 3:1-5

Godlessness in the Last Days

1But understand this, that iin the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2For people will be jlovers of self, klovers of money, lproud, marrogant, abusive, ndisobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 oheartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, pnot loving good, 4treacherous, reckless, qswollen with conceit, rlovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5having the appearance of godliness, but sdenying its power. tAvoid such people.

2 Peter 2

False Prophets and Teachers

1But ufalse prophets also arose among the people, vjust as there will be false teachers among you, who will wsecretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master xwho bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth ywill be blasphemed. 3And zin their greed they will exploit you aawith false words. abTheir condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

4For if God did not spare acangels when they sinned, but adcast them into hell

of gloomy darkness agto be kept until the judgment;
5if he did not spare the ancient world, but ahpreserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought aia flood upon the world of the ungodly; 6if by ajturning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to extinction, akmaking them an example of alwhat is going to happen to the ungodly;
Some manuscripts an example to those who were to be ungodly
7and anif he rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked 8(for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, aohe was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard); 9then apthe Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials,
Or temptations
and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment,
10and especially arthose who indulge
Greek  who go after the flesh
in the lust of defiling passion and atdespise authority.

Bold and willful, they do not tremble auas they blaspheme the glorious ones,
11 avwhereas angels, though greater in might and power, do not pronounce a blasphemous judgment against them before the Lord. 12 awBut these, like irrational animals, axcreatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed, blaspheming about matters of which they are ignorant, will also be destroyed in their destruction, 13suffering wrong as aythe wage for their wrongdoing. They count it pleasure azto revel in the daytime. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their deceptions,
Some manuscripts love feasts
while bbthey feast with you.
14They have eyes full of adultery, bcinsatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts bdtrained in greed. beAccursed children! 15Forsaking the right way, bfthey have gone astray. They have followed bgthe way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved bhgain from wrongdoing, 16but was rebuked for his own transgression; bia speechless donkey spoke with human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.

17 bjThese are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm. bkFor them the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved. 18For, blspeaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely bmescaping from those who live in error. 19They promise them bnfreedom, bobut they themselves are slaves
Greek bondservants
of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.
20For if, bqafter they have escaped the defilements of the world brthrough the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, bsthe last state has become worse for them than the first. 21For btit would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from buthe holy commandment delivered to them. 22What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The bvdog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.”

Revelation of John 6

The Seven Seals

1Now I watched when the Lamb opened one of cdthe seven seals, and I heard ceone of the four living creatures say cfwith a voice like thunder, cgCome!” 2And I looked, and behold, cha white horse! And ciits rider had a bow, and cja crown was given to him, and he came out ckconquering, and to conquer.

3When he opened the second seal, I heard clthe second living creature say, “Come!” 4And out came another horse, cmbright red. Its rider was permitted cnto take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword.

5When he opened the third seal, I heard the cothird living creature say, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, cpa black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand. 6And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, cq“A quart
Greek choinix, a dry measure equal to about a quart
of wheat for a denarius,
A  denarius was a day’s wage for a laborer
and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and ctdo not harm the oil and wine!”

7When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of cuthe fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8And I looked, and behold, cva pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill cwwith sword and with famine and with pestilence and cxby wild beasts of the earth.

9When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under cythe altar czthe souls of those who had been slain dafor the word of God and for dbthe witness they had borne. 10They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, dcholy and true, ddhow long debefore you will judge and dfavenge our blood on dgthose who dwell on the earth?” 11Then they were each given dha white robe and ditold to rest a little longer, djuntil the number of their fellow servants
Greek  fellow bondservants
and their brothers
Or  brothers and sisters. The plural Greek word adelphoi (translated “brothers”) refers to siblings in a family. In New Testament usage, depending on the context, adelphoi may refer either to men or to both men and women who are siblings (brothers and sisters) in God’s family, the church
dmshould be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.

12When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, dnthere was a great earthquake, and dothe sun became black as dpsackcloth, the full moon became like blood, 13and dqthe stars of the sky fell to the earth dras the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. 14 dsThe sky vanished dtlike a scroll that is being rolled up, and duevery mountain and island was removed from its place. 15Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave
Or servant; Greek bondservant
and free, dwhid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains,
16 dxcalling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of dyhim who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17for dzthe great day of their wrath has come, and eawho can stand?”

Revelation of John 22

The River of Life

1Then the angel
Greek he
showed me ecthe river of edthe water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb
2through the middle of eethe street of the city; efalso, on either side of the river, egthe tree of life
Or  the Lamb. In the midst of the street of the city, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life
with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were eifor the healing of the nations.
3 ejNo longer will there be anything accursed, but ekthe throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and elhis servants

will worship him.
4 enThey will see his face, and eohis name will be on their foreheads. 5And epnight will be no more. They will need no light of lamp eqor sun, for erthe Lord God will be their light, and esthey will reign forever and ever.

Jesus Is Coming

6And he said to me, etThese words are trustworthy and true. And the Lord, the God of euthe spirits of the prophets, evhas sent his angel to show his servants what must soon take place.”

7And behold, ewI am coming soon. exBlessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

8I, eyJohn, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, ezI fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me, 9 fabut he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant
Greek  fellow bondservant
with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those fcwho keep the words of this book. Worship God.”

10And he said to me, fd“Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. 11 feLet the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy.”

12Behold, ffI am coming soon, fgbringing my recompense with me, fhto repay each one for what he has done. 13 fiI am the Alpha and the Omega, fjthe first and the last, fkthe beginning and the end.”

14Blessed are those who flwash their robes,
Some manuscripts do his commandments
so that they may have the right to fnthe tree of life and that fothey may enter the city by the gates.
15 fpOutside are fqthe dogs frand sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

16 fsI, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things ftfor the churches. I am futhe root and fvthe descendant of David, fwthe bright morning star.”

17The Spirit and fxthe Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And fylet the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the fzwater of life without price.

18I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: gaif anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, 19and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in gbthe tree of life and in gcthe holy city, which are described in this book.

20He who testifies to these things says, Surely gdI am coming soon.” Amen. geCome, Lord Jesus!

21The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all.

Amen.
