14And when he had come to the king, the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?” And he answered, “Go up and triumph; they will be given into your hand.”

2 Chronicles 18:20-21

20Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, saying, ‘I will entice him.’ And the Lord said to him, ‘By what means?’ 21And he said, ‘I will go out, and will be aa lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And he said, ‘You are to entice him, and you shall succeed; go out and do so.’

Jeremiah 8:10-11

10 bTherefore I will give their wives to others
and their fields to conquerors,
because from the least to the greatest
everyone cis greedy for unjust gain;
from prophet to priest,
everyone deals falsely.
11They have healed dthe wound of my people lightly,
saying, ‘Peace, peace,’
when there is no peace.

Jeremiah 23:14

14But in the prophets of Jerusalem
I have seen a horrible thing:
ethey commit adultery and walk in lies;
fthey strengthen the hands of evildoers,
so that no one turns from his evil;
gall of them have become like Sodom to me,
hand its inhabitants like Gomorrah.”

Jeremiah 23:17

17They say continually to those who despise the word of the Lord, i‘It shall be well with you’; and to everyone who jstubbornly follows his own heart, they say, kNo disaster shall come upon you.’”

Jeremiah 28

Hananiah the False Prophet

1In that same year, at the beginning of the reign of lZedekiah king of Judah, in the fifth month of the fourth year, Hananiah the son of mAzzur, the prophet from nGibeon, spoke to me in the house of the Lord, in the presence of the priests and all the people, saying, 2Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: oI have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon. 3 pWithin qtwo years I will bring back to this place all the vessels of the Lord’s house, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon. 4I will also bring back to this place rJeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the exiles from Judah who went to Babylon, declares the Lord, sfor I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.”

5Then the prophet Jeremiah spoke to Hananiah the prophet in the presence of the priests and all the people who were standing in the house of the Lord, 6and the prophet Jeremiah said, tAmen! May the Lord do so; may the Lord make the words that you have prophesied come true, and bring back to this place from Babylon the vessels of the house of the Lord, and all the exiles. 7Yet hear now this word that I speak in your hearing and in the hearing of all the people. 8 uThe prophets who preceded you and me from ancient times prophesied war, famine, and pestilence against many countries and great kingdoms. 9 vAs for the prophet who prophesies peace, when the word of that prophet comes to pass, then it will be known that the Lord has truly sent the prophet.”

10Then the prophet Hananiah took the wyoke-bars from the neck of Jeremiah the prophet and broke them. 11And Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, xThus says the Lord: yEven so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of zall the nations within two years.” But Jeremiah the prophet went his way.

12Sometime after the prophet aaHananiah had broken the yoke-bars from off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 13Go, tell Hananiah, ‘Thus says the Lord: You have broken wooden bars, but you have made in their place bars of iron. 14For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: I have put upon the neck of all these nations aban iron yoke to serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, acand they shall serve him, adfor I have given to him even the beasts of the field.’” 15And Jeremiah the prophet said to the prophet Hananiah, “Listen, Hananiah, aethe Lord has not sent you, afand you have made this people trust in a lie. 16Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will remove you from the face of the earth. This year you shall die, agbecause you have uttered rebellion against the Lord.’”

17In that same year, in the seventh month, the prophet Hananiah died.

Ezekiel 13:3-16

3Thus says the Lord God, Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! 4Your prophets have been like jackals among ruins, O Israel. 5 ahYou have not gone up into the breaches, or built up a wall for the house of Israel, that it might stand in battle in the day of the Lord. 6 aiThey have seen false visions and lying divinations. They say, ‘Declares the Lord,’ ajwhen the Lord has not sent them, and yet they expect him to fulfill their word. 7Have you not seen a false vision and uttered a lying divination, akwhenever you have said, ‘Declares the Lord,’ although I have not spoken?”

8Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Because you have uttered falsehood and seen lying visions, therefore behold, alI am against you, declares the Lord God. 9My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who give lying divinations. They shall not be in the council of my people, amnor be enrolled in the register of the house of Israel, annor shall they enter the land of Israel. aoAnd you shall know that I am the Lord God. 10Precisely because they have misled my people, apsaying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace, and because, when the people build a wall, aqthese prophets smear it with whitewash,
Or plaster; also verses 11, 14, 15
11say to those who smear it with whitewash that it shall fall! asThere will be a deluge of rain, and you, O great hailstones, will fall, and a stormy wind break out. 12And when the wall falls, will it not be said to you, ‘Where is the coating with which you smeared it?’ 13Therefore thus says the Lord God: atI will make a stormy wind break out in my wrath, auand there shall be a deluge of rain in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to make a full end. 14And I will break down the wall that you have smeared with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be laid bare. When it falls, you shall perish in the midst of it, avand you shall know that I am the Lord. 15Thus will I spend my wrath upon the wall and upon those who have smeared it with whitewash, and I will say to you, The wall is no more, nor those who smeared it, 16the prophets of Israel who prophesied concerning Jerusalem awand saw visions of peace for her, when there was no peace, declares the Lord God.

Ezekiel 13:22

22 axBecause you have disheartened the righteous falsely, although I have not grieved him, and ayyou have encouraged the wicked, that azhe should not turn from his evil way to save his life,

Micah 2:11

11If a man should go about and bautter wind and lies,
