Fasting and Prayer for Protection

21 cThen I proclaimed a fast there, at the river dAhava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, eto seek from him a safe journey for ourselves, our children, and all our goods.

Jeremiah 36:9

9 fIn the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, gin the ninth month, all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem hproclaimed a fast before the Lord.

Joel 1:14

Return to the Lord

12 “Yet even now,” declares the Lord,

qfor he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love;
rand he relents over disaster.
14 sWho knows whether he will not turn and relent,
and tleave a blessing behind him,
ua grain offering and a drink offering
for the Lord your God?
15 vBlow the trumpet in Zion;

even nursing infants.

and the bride her chamber.

adlet the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep
and say, “Spare your people, O Lord,
and make not your heritage a reproach,
a byword among the nations.
Or  reproach, that the nations should rule over them

afWhy should they say among the peoples,
Where is their God?’”
