20 So ^aTiglath-pileser ^{▼▼Hebrew Tilgath-pilneser} king of Assyria came against him and afflicted him instead of strengthening him. 21 ^cFor Ahaz took a portion from the house of the Lord and the house of the king and of the princes, and gave tribute to the king of Assyria, but it did not help him.

Job 6:14-20

forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

Isaiah 30:1-3

Do Not Go Down to Egypt

1 “Ah, ^ostubborn children,” declares the Lord,
^p“who carry out a plan, but not mine,
and who make ^qan alliance, ^{▼▼Hebrew who weave a web} but not of my Spirit,
that they may add sin to sin;
2 ^swho set out to go down to Egypt,
without asking for my direction,
to take refuge in the protection of Pharaoh
and to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!
3 ^tTherefore shall the protection of Pharaoh turn to your shame,
and the shelter in the shadow of Egypt to your humiliation.

Isaiah 36:6

6 ^uBehold, you are trusting in Egypt, that broken reed of a staff, which will pierce the hand of any man who leans on it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.

Ezekiel 29:6-7

6 Then all the inhabitants of Egypt ^vshall know that I am the Lord.
