2 Chronicles 28:20-22

20So aTiglath-pileser
Hebrew Tilgath-pilneser
king of Assyria came against him and afflicted him instead of strengthening him.
21 cFor Ahaz took a portion from the house of the Lord and the house of the king and of the princes, and gave tribute to the king of Assyria, but it did not help him.

22In the time of his distress he became yet more faithless to the Lord—this same King Ahaz.

Isaiah 31:1-3

Woe to Those Who Go Down to Egypt

1 Woe to gthose who go down to Egypt for help
and rely on horses,
who htrust in chariots because they are many
and in horsemen because they are very strong,
but ido not look to the Holy One of Israel
or consult the Lord!
2And jyet he is wise and brings disaster;
khe does not call back his words,
but lwill arise against the house of the evildoers
and against the helpers of mthose who work iniquity.
3The Egyptians are man, and not God,
and their horses nare flesh, and not spirit.
When the Lord stretches out his hand,
the helper will stumble, and he who is helped will fall,
and they will all perish together.

You shall be sput to shame by Egypt

37From it too you will come away
with tyour hands on your head,
for the Lord has rejected those in whom you trust,
and you will not prosper by them.

vand your wound is grievous.
13There is none to uphold your cause,
no medicine for your wound,
wno healing for you.
14 xAll your lovers have forgotten you;
they care nothing for you;
for I have dealt you the blow of yan enemy,
the punishment zof a merciless foe,
because your guilt is great,
aabecause your sins are flagrant.
15 abWhy do you cry out over your hurt?
acYour pain is incurable.
Because your guilt is great,
adbecause your sins are flagrant,
I have done these things to you.
