The Lord Delivers Jerusalem

20Then Hezekiah the king and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, prayed because of this and cried to heaven. 21And the Lord sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty warriors and commanders and officers in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with ashame of face to his own land. And when he came into the house of his god, some of his own sons struck him down there with the sword.

Hezekiah’s Pride and Achievements

24 bIn those days Hezekiah became sick and was at the point of death, and he prayed to the Lord, and he answered him and gave him a sign.

Peter Is Rescued

6Now when Herod was about to bring him out, on that very night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, sbound with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison. 7And behold, tan angel of the Lord ustood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. vHe struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, “Get up quickly.” And wthe chains fell off his hands. 8And the angel said to him, “Dress yourself and xput on your sandals.” And he did so. And he said to him, “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me.” 9And he went out and followed him. He did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but ythought he was seeing a vision. 10When they had passed the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate leading into the city. zIt opened for them of its own accord, and they went out and went along one street, and immediately the angel left him. 11When Peter aacame to himself, he said, “Now I am sure that abthe Lord has sent his angel and acrescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting.”
