Manasseh’s Repentance

10The Lord spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they paid no attention.

2 Chronicles 36:16-17

16 aBut they kept mocking the messengers of God, bdespising his words and scoffing at his prophets, cuntil the wrath of the Lord rose against his people, until there was no remedy.

Jerusalem Captured and Burned

17 dTherefore he brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or aged. He gave them all into his hand.

Proverbs 30:9

9lest I be efull and fdeny you
and say, gWho is the Lord?”
or lest I be poor and steal
hand profane the name of my God.

Jeremiah 2:31

31And you, O generation, behold the word of the Lord.
Have I been a wilderness to Israel,
or a land of thick darkness?
Why then do my people say, ‘We are free,
we will come no more to you’?

Jeremiah 6:16

Stand by the roads, and look,
and ask for ithe ancient paths,
where the good way is; and walk in it,
jand find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

Jeremiah 35:15

15I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, sending them kpersistently, saying, lTurn now every one of you from his evil way, and amend your deeds, and mdo not go after other gods to serve them, and then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to you and your fathers.’ nBut you did not incline your ear or listen to me.

Jeremiah 36:21-26

21Then the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, and he took it from the chamber of Elishama the secretary. And Jehudi read it to the king and all the officials who stood beside the king. 22It was othe ninth month, and the king was sitting in pthe winter house, and there was a fire burning in the fire pot before him. 23As Jehudi read three or four columns, the king would cut them off with a knife and throw them into the fire in the fire pot, until the entire scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the fire pot. 24Yet qneither the king nor any of his servants who heard all these words was afraid, rnor did they tear their garments. 25Even when sElnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah turged the king not to burn the scroll, he would not listen to them. 26And the king commanded Jerahmeel the uking’s son and Seraiah the son of Azriel and vShelemiah the son of Abdeel to seize wBaruch the secretary and Jeremiah the prophet, but the Lord hid them.
