2 Chronicles 35:25
25 aJeremiah also uttered a lament for Josiah; and all bthe singing men and singing women have spoken of Josiah in their laments to this day. They made these a rule in Israel; behold, they are written in the Laments.Jeremiah 9:17-20
17 Thus says the Lord of hosts:c“Consider, and call for the mourning women to come;
send for the skillful women to come;
18let them make haste dand raise a wailing over us,
ethat our eyes may run down with tears
and our eyelids flow with water.
19For a sound of wailing is heard from Zion:
f‘How we are ruined!
We are utterly shamed,
because we have left the land,
because they have cast down our dwellings.’”
20 Hear, O women, the word of the Lord,
and let your ear receive the word of his mouth;
teach to your daughters a lament,
and each to her neighbor a dirge.
Matthew 11:17
17 “‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’
Mark 5:38-40
38They came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and Jesus ▼▼Greek he
saw a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly. 39And when he had entered, he said to them, h“Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but isleeping.” 40And they laughed at him. But he jput them all outside and took the child’s father and mother and those who were with him and went in where the child was.
