1These are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to hthe surviving elders of the exiles, and to ithe priests, jthe prophets, and kall the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon. 2This was after lKing Jeconiah and the queen mother, the eunuchs, the officials of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the metal workers had departed from Jerusalem.

Jeremiah 38:17-18

17Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “Thus says the Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel: mIf you will surrender to nthe officials of the king of Babylon, othen your life shall be spared, and this city shall not be burned with fire, and you and your house shall live. 18But if you do not surrender to pthe officials of the king of Babylon, qthen this city shall be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, rand they shall burn it with fire, and you shall not escape from their hand.”

Ezekiel 17:12

12Say now to sthe rebellious house, tDo you not know what these things mean? Tell them, behold, uthe king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took her king and her princes and brought them to him to Babylon.
