2 Chronicles 36:15-16

15The Lord, the God of their fathers, asent persistently to them by his messengers, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place. 16 bBut they kept mocking the messengers of God, cdespising his words and scoffing at his prophets, duntil the wrath of the Lord rose against his people, until there was no remedy.

Nehemiah 9:26

26 e“Nevertheless, they were disobedient and rebelled against you fand cast your law behind their back gand killed your prophets, who hhad warned them in order to turn them back to you, iand they committed great blasphemies.

Jeremiah 2:30

30In vain have I jstruck your children;
they took no correction;
kyour own sword devoured your prophets
like a ravening lion.

Jeremiah 25:3-7

3“For twenty-three years, lfrom the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, to this day, the word of the Lord has come to me, and I have spoken mpersistently to you, nbut you have not listened. 4 oYou have neither listened nor inclined your ears to hear, although the Lord ppersistently sent to you all his servants the prophets, 5saying, qTurn now, every one of you, rfrom his evil way and evil deeds, and sdwell upon the land that the Lord has given to you and your fathers from of old and forever. 6 tDo not go after other gods to serve and worship them, uor provoke me to anger vwith the work of your hands. Then I will do you no harm.’ 7 wYet you have not listened to me, declares the Lord, xthat you might provoke me to anger ywith the work of your hands to your own harm.

Jeremiah 26:21-24

21And when zKing Jehoiakim, with all his warriors and all the officials, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death. But when Uriah heard of it, he was afraid and fled and escaped to Egypt. 22Then aaKing Jehoiakim sent to Egypt certain men, abElnathan the son of acAchbor and others with him, 23and they took Uriah from Egypt and brought him to King Jehoiakim, adwho struck him down with the sword and dumped his dead body into the burial place of the common people.

24But the hand of aeAhikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah so that he was not given over to the people to be put to death.

Luke 13:33-34

33Nevertheless, afI agmust go on my way today and tomorrow and the day following, for it cannot be that aha prophet should perish away from Jerusalem.’ 34 aiO Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that ajkills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! akHow often would I have algathered amyour children together anas a hen gathers her brood aounder her wings, and apyou were not willing!
