Jeremiah 2:30

Jeremiah 11:19-21

Jeremiah 12:5-6

The Lord Answers Jeremiah

5 If you have raced with men on foot, and they have wearied you,
how will you compete with horses?
And if in a safe land you are so trusting,
what will you do in pthe thicket of the Jordan?
6For qeven your brothers and the house of your father,
reven they have dealt treacherously with you;
they are in full cry after you;
sdo not believe them,
though they speak friendly words to you.”

Jeremiah 18:18

18Then they said, tCome, let us make plots against Jeremiah, ufor the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. vCome, let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not pay attention to any of his words.”

Jeremiah Persecuted by Pashhur

1Now wPashhur the priest, the son of xImmer, who was ychief officer in the house of the Lord, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things. 2Then zPashhur beat Jeremiah the prophet, and put him aain the stocks that were in the upper abBenjamin Gate of the house of the Lord.

Jeremiah 20:8-11

8For whenever I speak, I cry out,
I shout, acViolence and destruction!”
For adthe word of the Lord has become for me
aea reproach and afderision all day long.
9If I say, “I will not mention him,
or speak any more in his name,”
agthere is in my heart as it were a burning fire
shut up in my bones,
and ahI am weary with holding it in,
and I cannot.
10 aiFor I hear many whispering.
ajTerror is on every side!
Denounce him! akLet us denounce him!”
say all my alclose friends,
amwatching for anmy fall.
Perhaps he will be deceived;
then aowe can overcome him
and take our revenge on him.”
11But apthe Lord is with me as a dread warrior;
therefore my persecutors will stumble;
aqthey will not overcome me.
arThey will be greatly shamed,
for they will not succeed.
Their aseternal dishonor
will never be forgotten.

Lamentations 4:13-14

13 This was for atthe sins of her prophets
and authe iniquities of her priests,
who shed in the midst of her
the blood of the righteous.
14 avThey wandered, blind, through the streets;
they were so defiled with blood
awthat no one was able to touch
their garments.
