The Thessalonians’ Faith and Example

2 gWe give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly
Or without ceasing
imentioning you in our prayers,
3remembering before jour God and Father kyour work of faith and labor of llove and msteadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. 4For we know, nbrothers
Or  brothers and sisters. The plural Greek word adelphoi (translated “brothers”) refers to siblings in a family. In New Testament usage, depending on the context, adelphoi may refer either to men or to both men and women who are siblings (brothers and sisters) in God’s family, the church
loved by God, pthat he has chosen you,
5because qour gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and rin the Holy Spirit and with full sconviction. You know twhat kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake. 6And uyou became imitators of us vand of the Lord, for wyou received the word in much affliction, xwith the yjoy of the Holy Spirit, 7so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia. 8For not only has the word of the Lord zsounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth aaeverywhere, so that we need not say anything. 9For they themselves report concerning us the kind of abreception we had among you, and how acyou turned to God adfrom idols to serve the living and aetrue God, 10and afto wait for his Son agfrom heaven, ahwhom he raised from the dead, Jesus aiwho delivers us from ajthe wrath to come.
