2 Corinthians 10:4-10

4 For the ^aweapons of ^bour warfare are not of the flesh but have ^cdivine power ^dto destroy strongholds. 5 We destroy arguments and ^eevery lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to ^fobey Christ, 6 ^gbeing ready to punish every disobedience, ^hwhen your obedience is complete.

7 ⁱLook at what is before your eyes. ^jIf anyone is confident that he is Christ’s, let him remind himself that just as ^khe is Christ’s, ^lso also are we. 8 For even if I boast a little too much of ^mour authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for destroying you, I will not be ashamed. 9 I do not want to appear to be frightening you with my letters. 10 For they say, “His letters are weighty and strong, but ⁿhis bodily presence is weak, and ^ohis speech of no account.”

3 John 9-10

9 I have written something to the church, but Diotrephes, who likes to put himself first, does not acknowledge our authority. 10 So if I come, I will bring up what he is doing, talking wicked nonsense against us. And not content with that, he refuses to welcome the brothers, and also stops those who want to and puts them out of the church.

The Second Beast

11 Then ^rI saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, ^{▼▼Or on its behalf} and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, ^twhose mortal wound was healed. 13 ^uIt performs great signs, even ^vmaking fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people, 14 and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of ^{▼▼Or on behalf of} the beast ^xit deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast ^ythat was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15 And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not ^zworship the image of the beast ^aato be slain. 16 Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, ^{▼▼Greek bondservant} ^acto be marked on the right hand or the forehead, 17 so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, ^adthe name of the beast or ^aethe number of its name.

Revelation of John 17:6
