5 And as soon as the royal power was ^afirmly in his hand, he struck down his servants ^bwho had struck down the king his father.

5 Thus says the Lord:
“Cursed is the man ^cwho trusts in man
and makes flesh his strength, ^{▼▼Hebrew arm}
whose heart turns away from the Lord.
