2 Kings 16:5-7

5 aThen Rezin king of Syria and bPekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, came up to wage war on Jerusalem, and they besieged Ahaz cbut could not conquer him. 6At that time Rezin the king of Syria recovered dElath for Syria and drove the men of Judah from eElath, and the Edomites came to Elath, where they dwell to this day. 7 fSo Ahaz sent messengers to gTiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, “I am your servant and your son. Come up and rescue me from the hand of the king of Syria and from the hand of the king of Israel, who are attacking me.”

Isaiah 7:2-6

2When the house of David was told, hSyria is in league with

jEphraim,” the heart of Ahaz

and the heart of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake before the wind.

3And the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out to meet Ahaz, you and lShear-jashub
 Shear-jashub means A remnant shall return
your son, at the end of nthe conduit of the upper pool on the highway to the Washer’s Field.
4And say to him, o‘Be careful, pbe quiet, do not fear, and do not let your heart be faint because of these two qsmoldering stumps of firebrands, at the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria and rthe son of Remaliah. 5Because Syria, with Ephraim and sthe son of Remaliah, has devised evil against you, saying, 6“Let us go up against Judah and terrify it, and let us conquer it
Hebrew  let us split it open
for ourselves, and set up the son of Tabeel as king in the midst of it,”

Isaiah 51:12-13

12 “I, I am he uwho comforts you;
who are you that you are afraid of vman who dies,
of the son of man who is made wlike grass,
13and have forgotten the Lord, your Maker,
xwho stretched out the heavens
and ylaid the foundations of the earth,
and you fear continually all the day
because of the wrath of zthe oppressor,
when he sets himself to destroy?
And where is the wrath of aathe oppressor?
